As it turns out, today is actually a pretty big day for me. It seems crazy to celebrate the anniversary of the day they cut off my leg, but we are. My Mom has been accused of being crazy (mainly by my Dad who makes a circling motion with his index finger at the side of his head and says “cuckoo, cuckoo”. My Mom says technically, that motion means she has a screw loose, and is not the motion for crazy, but that seems like a silly argument to me.) I think the whole thing is pretty funny, because when you get right down to it, my Dad really is a crack up. Plus, my Mom knows we only tease her because we love her.
Anyway, the way my Mom sells this whole party thing, is that we aren’t celebrating the day my leg got cut off, we are actually celebrating the day we may have saved my life. When she puts it that way, it really makes a whole bunch more sense. Some anniversaries aren’t good ones…even I know that. Like the anniversary of the day somebody died. Those for sure are not events we celebrate AT ALL. In fact, those can be pretty sad days for my Mom.
That’s what makes it even more special that we are not turning March 11, 2010, into a bad day. None of us need any more sad anniversaries, but EVERYONE can use a reason to be merry. And the way I see it, if we are celebrating something (anything, really, doesn’t matter what it is), us dogs are bound to get special treatment. More treats, ice cream, bigger dinner, longer walks…the possibilities are endless. In fact, below there is a super funny picture of me running to my Mom today. Running. Today. Isn’t it awesome, amazing and hysterical all at the same time?! Just two months ago, I could hardly walk. For the humans, the possibilites seem to include a bottle of wine from our favorite winery (which, by the way, we can walk to from our cabin). Dogs are welcome, for anybody who decides to come and visit us at the lake…http://www.tildio.com/.
The short story, however, is that I’m still feeling great. I can run like the wind (well, maybe a stiff breeze is more accurate, I’d hate to exaggerate); I can swim like Michael Phelps (this one is true); I can love like I have nothing to lose (which I don’t); and, I can live like there is heaven on Earth (because there is).
It’s like this saying my Mom has in one of her books, “My strength is as the strength of ten, Because my heart is pure.” Alfred Lord Tennyson
And it is. As pure and true as was ever possible.
LOL! I’m sure many of us pawrents would be considered cuckoo…cuckoo…reminds me of that song in the Sound of Music. So pawesome to be celebrating your 1 month ampuversary! I like the way your mom thinks…walking to your favorite winery?? Duh!! That’s even more pawesome! You do look like you’re running with the wind (tazmanian devil in disguise perhaps?)….and I bet you do swim like Michael Phelps too.
Here’s to many, many more ampuversaries and happy celebrations!!
Happy Ampuversary! That’s a great way to put it – the anniversary of the day your life was saved. We like that! Holly will definitely celebrate with some extra treats in your honor, and mom will raise her glass of wine to you, too! And it sure looks like you run like the wind!
Hugs,
Holly and Holly’s mom
Very funny!!! And very very nice 🙂 Run like wind, my friend!

Well said Lincoln! Any day loving life on three legs is reason to celebrate.
A walk to the winery? We may just have to visit … speaking of wine and dogs, check out Three Legged Red, a personal favorite of ours.
WOW! Lincoln you look like you are going 100mph! You are a wicked looking, dude! Wicked in a cool way! I’m with Mack on this – you Taz Devil, you!
I saw celebrate every day!
And who cares what dad thinks – Cuckoo Moms are the best kind to have! ( I know first hand! )
Comet
Oopsie – I “say” celebrate every day!
Lincoln, tell your Mom that it’s not she who’s cuckoo, it’s everypawdy else.
Hoppy Ampuversary you wild boy! We are pawtying over here in honor of your big occasion. And remember, you’re celebrating the day that you were free of that awful pain. Run on my friend, run wild!!!!!

Lincoln – you are a poster child for how to live each day with love and abandon. Go forth and wag, my friend !! And, I’m betting Sophie makes her own sign for how screwy her mom is – these days for sure !! 🙂 I think people who don’t recognize life being lived in the moment – and with love – are the ones we should missing out – as Wyattraydawg so eloquently stated.
Can we have a Tripawd Tour of some of these wineries?? Maybe we could get a special rate on a bulk purchase…or work out some kind of deal – artwork for the bottles; a “vintage” year with pictures of Tripawds on bottles of wine for that year … just ballparking here ….. blah, blah, blah…..could get some corporate donations……
Tana and Sophie
oops … too much coffee – fingers are moving faster than the brain…
I mean to say …”… are the ones who are missing out…”
Happy ampuversary Lincoln!!! 🙂
You are doing so well and look very happy! I’m glad you all got to celebrate this wonderful day… and hope that you have many, many more happy ampuversaries to celebrate!!! Run Lincoln Run!!!

Hey Dude, March 11, 2009 was when they took my stump off…I wonder what they did with it after they took it off, oh well…
We celebrate March 11th as my Ampuversary, I’m glad someone else has that same day to celebrate. Celebrating with friends is always much more fun. When they took my arm, it removed the last remnent of my not so good life in Taiwan, I was so glad both of them were gone.
Both my pawrents work in the wine biz, so every once in awhile they will toast all the good things in our lives, we have a wonderful home filled with love, I have a big sister and brother and 2 of those “cat” things and lot’s of toys and snacks and bones and snacks and some more toys
Have a wonderful Ampuversary! May you run like the wind with tongue waggin and ears flappin and swim till your to tired to.
Your friend, Shelby, the P.P.
PS. I am having a glass of vino right now which explains possibly why my first post didn’t seem to post. Anyway Lincoln, keep on schwimmming!
Opie’s Mom – Wine is great, no doubt about it. We may have to grab Sophi’s Mom and track down the Petite Princesses parents since they’re in the wine industry. I am pretty sure there isn’t a one of us that couldn’t use a glass of vino at all times.
Also, your comment did post….it was on a different blog (“Working for the Weekend”). Thanks for checking back, and now I’m having a glass of wine in everyone’s honor. Malbec tonight. Yum.
